Prayer Letters

2011

As of August 31st, my family and I will be arriving and traveling to churches in the United States.  As we shared in our last prayer letter, we have many goals while being on furlough:

  1. Visiting and informing our churches of what the Lord has done in our lives and in the ministry of Argentina (we can be reached at 765-960-7793)
  2. Get my health under control – my first doctor’s appointment is Sept 12th
  3. Pray the Lord would allow us to encourage many more to give their lives to the cause of the evangelization of the world
  4. Raise funds for the property of the newest church (Hope Baptist Church). Our goal is $37,000.

Our last few weeks here in Argentina have been very encouraging. Here are a few highlights of what the Lord has done in the month of August:

  1. We have seen many saved and baptized, among those baptized was our daughter, Adriana. Many others are growing spiritually and becoming faithful.
  2. The Lord allowed us to have part in organizing the Berean Baptist Church as an autonomous, local Baptist Church. Pastor Hernan is being greatly used of the Lord and we are thrilled to see what God is doing. The church men worked hard to get the new church building up, which is twice as big as where they were meeting.  It was exciting to see that this church building was constructed by the men of the church and they also sacrifiiced not only their time but also money to purchase most of the materials for the building. During this special service we heard many wonderful testimonies and goals from the church and it’s pastor on their desires to go forward for the Lord. They had a great turnout and their new building was full with around 75 adults and 32 children. The service was a great encouragement to our hearts!
  3. The Bible College is going well and we are thankful for those who studying and preparing their lives for the Lord’s service.  In December, 4 students will graduate and I will return to have part in the graduation.
  4. The jail ministry has started once again. After a period of time not visiting the jails, the Lord has placed it on the heart of one of the Bible college students to enter in the jails once again. Along with a group of Bible college students, one of the young men that works as a security guard in the jail, has received permission preach to prisoners in some of the jails in Buenos Aires.

We thank you for your prayers and look forward to possibly seeing you on our furlough.

We have much to praise the Lord about lately as well as a few prayer requests to share. We are in the middle of winter here and trying to keep warm!  The end of this month we will be finishing the first semester of the Bible college and beginning the next semester a few week later. The Lord gave us over 20 students this semester and we are expecting an even greater 2nd semester. We praise the Lord for those studying and preparing their lives to serve our Savior.

We just recently came back from our annual Marriage Retreat with the churches.  There were 29 couples that attended and the Lord worked in their lives.  Pastor Austin Gardner from Alpharetta, GA, came down to teach the retreat.  The Lord blessed in many ways and one man, whose wife has been praying for him for some time, received the Lord as his Saviour. While on the Marriage Retreat, one couple who had recently been saved wanted to get baptized in the ocean, so they were baptized… in 35 degree weather!  The Sunday following the retreat we had a Vow Renewal service and around 15 couples renewed their marriage vows. Amen for the marriages that were strengthened!

The Berean Baptist Church continues to go forward. Pastor Hernan is doing a great job, winning souls and discipling!  They are currently building a new building as the one they have now is just a small house with 2 rooms and is always full during the services.  They had been buying, building and sacrificing to finish. As usual, the devil is looking to discourage and just recently, the church was broken into and most of their building supplies (tin for the roof, wood, etc) was stolen.  Pray that the Lord will replace these materials and protect the church from further theft.

We had mentioned starting a new church, the Hope Baptist Church, in the last prayer letter.  Praise the Lord we have found land and made the first of many payments.  We ask that you would pray about helping us with the initial payments on the land and building.  We need $12,000 as soon as possible so we can get this church going.  One of the Bible college students who graduated in 2010 will be starting this new church with a handful of faithful church members who live in this area of the city.  If you would like to help with this need you can send your donation to Macedonia World Baptist Missions and mark it Jeff Bush – Hope Baptist Church Fund.

This September we will be taking our furlough. It has been almost 4 years since our last furlough and time has flown, but our main reason for going back is to get a doctor’s advice on my Rheumatoid Arthritis.  It was not our original plans to travel, but we have been strongly advised that it is time to get more medical help and then return with more knowledge of my health problem.  We will be visiting many of our churches and will need to visit some new churches as well. If you would like to have us in, we would enjoy hearing from you – please give me a call at 770-456-5667 or you may email me at bush@reachingall.com. Thank you for your prayers and kindness!

As always, the Lord is faithful! The Lord has given us some great months and allowed us to see some great victories and blessings. We have seen souls saved and Christians growing in the Lord and we want to share a few of these details with you.

The Berean Baptist Church is being used greatly of the Lord as Pastor Hernan Cortez is leading the church through construction and growth. The church is very young and already has seen many saved, baptized and growing in the Lord. Both the spiritual and numerical growth is a great encouragement to my heart. The church men are working on the construction and it is encouraging to see them use their time and funds to build God’s house.

May is Missions month at the Lighthouse Baptist Church. We were blessed to have a pastor, Bro. Juan Pacheco, come from Peru to preach the conference for us. We had a high attendance of 250 people one night with many visitors and and several who made professions of faith.  The church is currently supporting 8 missionaries and is  praying to support more. The Missions Conference was a big blessing and the last night the church gave a new pulpit to Pastor Hernan and the new church.

Months ago, the Lord put it on our heart to start another church. Both the youth pastor and I have prayed and are making preparation for the new church. We have talked to 6 or 7 families from the Lighthouse Baptist Church that are going to form part of the new church and are now working out the details. We wanted to rent a place to start out, but the Lord has led us to a piece of land that we are looking at and praying about.  The price is $37,500, but the owner will allow us to pay it off over time.  Our goal is to put up a temporary building and start this new church in a part of the city that has many souls with have no Gospel preaching church. We appreciate your prayers in this area.

Missionary David Peach has been teaching our people about the sign language ministry and our desire is that the Lord would allow us to see many deaf come to the Lord. We thank the Lord for how our people are learning to minister to the deaf.

The Lord is blessing the evangelism efforts through the radio ministry, tracts and just recently English classesJosh Smith, missionary to Argentina who arrived in January, is teaching the English classes and we praise the Lord for those coming.

The Lord has given us a great group of Bible College students this year. We are praying that these students would serve the Lord with their lives, and that the Lord would use the Bible College to train future leaders in his harvest!

Time continues to rush by while there is so much work to be done.  I would like to take a few moments of your time to share with you some of the rich blessings God is doing and has done here in Argentina.

Since January and February are summer months in Argentina, the calendar was full of retreats and camps. Our youth was divided into 2 groups and attended camp with other missionaries a few hours away. Thank the Lord many came back with hearts stirred and decisions to serve the Lord. We then had a ladies retreat with Lighthouse and Berean (the newest church) and the Lord blessed with good fellowship and one salvation decision amongst the ladies. The men's retreat also was a blessing with over 40 men who attended and were challenged to serve the Lord.

The Berean Baptist Church is doing wonderful and just last Sunday held their first baptism with 9 baptized! Praise the Lord! The pastor will graduate from the Bible college this year and the Lord is using him in a great way to win souls and teach others. The pastor is now leading the young church into a building project on the land they have. It gives me great joy to see the church grow spiritually as well as numerically and have a desire to go forward for the Lord.

Near the end of March we have plans to formally organize the Berean Baptist Church. Pastor Hernan and the people are serving the Lord and we are excited to reach this goal and see how the Lord is going to take this church to another level.

While preaching a youth camp in western Argentina, I met a doctor who told me that he could help me with my arthritis. My family and I made the time and traveled to have treatment on my hand for one week. Although I am not 100% to what I would like to be, I can say that for the 1st time in over 4 years that I am using my right hand - and that is a big blessing!  I would be very grateful if you would continue to pray for my health.

We are about to start up Bible College again (2nd week of March) and are looking forward to seeing what God is going to do.  It looks as if the Lord is going to allow us to see around 20 students this year, many of them being 1st year students. Our desire is to see the Lord use the Bible College to prepare young men and women for the ministry of the Lord. Please pray that God will raise up a generation of servants to go forth and preach His Word.

We ask you to help us pray for a new church we are desiring to start on the other side of our city.  We will be starting Hope Baptist Church  alongside a young man who has graduated from the Bible College and a first-year Bible College student.  We are currently looking for a place to rent and working out details and the next time we write we will be able to inform you of how the Lord is blessing at this new church.

2010

April 2010

Once again, we have the privilege to write and share about the faithfulness and blessings of God.  We have been greatly blessed by the Lord both in family and in ministry.  Allow us to share a few of the blessings the Lord has given lately.

The first week of March we started back up with Bible Institute classes - 6 young men and 1 young lady that are preparing for the Lord's service.  We are thankful for those who graduated last December and are excited to see what the Lord is going to do with those who are studying currently.

On the 22nd of March, we started up Free English Classes on Monday nights. We have not taught English classes for years, but we are excited as we started back up to use as an Evangelistic tool.  Our goal and desire is to bring in people and use English as a basis to win souls for our Lord.  The Lord blessed the first class and we had 130 people.

Mid-March we received the Peach family, missionaries to the deaf.  Their desire is to work in various areas of Argentina and help us to start a deaf ministry. Our church people are anticipating learning sign language and reaching our deaf community for the Lord.  Please pray with us as we hope to start a deaf ministry soon.

A few weeks ago, we were able to see the Lord's hand in a very unique way.  It was a stormy Sunday and we were nervous that many people were not going to make it.  The Lord brought people in spite of my lack of faith and the weather and 160 people were present to hear the Lord's Word.  For days I had my message prepared and my desire was to preach on evangelism since we were in the middle of our evangelism month, but the Lord seemed to change my message.  I was prepared to preach the new message, was sure there were many who needed this message, the people were showing up for the service, … but now the rain was so hard on the metal roof that you couldn’t even hear.  When the offering time approached, the man who spoke and prayed could not even be heard even though he had a microphone because the rain was so hard … and I was supposed to preach right after the offering.  I sighed a prayer asking the Lord to calm the storm so they could hear. It was the Lord who lead me to this new message, it was the Lord who brought the people in the rain … but how was I going to yell louder than the rain and expect the people to hear and follow the message?  The offering finished and I stood up to preach. Although it may sound wild in some people’s mind, the rain lightened up and came to a stop as I began the message.  Amazingly, the God who gave me the message and brought the people in spite of the storm, calmed the storm and began to move. I preached the message believing God was going to work, and His Spirit moved and worked in hearts. I look back with an amazing feeling, knowing that the same God of the Bible that parted the Red Sea, stopped the mouth of lions and stopped the rain for Elijah, is still in the miracle working business!

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support.

October 2009

The Lord has been very good to us as He always is.  These past couple months have been very busy in the ministry, but very fruitful. We would like to mention just a few highlights since the last time we wrote.

The Seminary is going well.  Pray for the young men studying in the seminary.   At the end of the year we will be graduating 5 of these students who have now completed 3 years of studies.  One of them is already pastoring a church (the Grace Baptist Church in Quilmes) and the other is my assistant Pastor.  Another one is the Outreach Ministry Director and another is the Youth Leader.  All of the students are serving to some capacity and it is exciting to see them being used of the Lord.

In August we also started a new work in the southern end of the city.   To reach a greater amount of people we decided to start a new work in this area on Wednesday nights for now.  A young man who is studying in the seminary and feels called to preach is in charge and preaches every week and I go once a month to preach.  Pray for Hernan and his wife, Rosa, as they work in this area.  They are a great couple and have a heart to win others to the Lord.

We recently had “Children’s Day” here in Argentina so we had a fun day for the children in the neighborhood.  We had over 200 people come and were able to give a Gospel presentation.  Several children and adults received the Lord as their Saviour this day.  Praise the Lord! The first week of September we had our first Couples Retreat.  We had 17 couples go and one lady's unsaved husband  who we had been praying for accepted the Lord as His Saviour on the way back from the Retreat.  The Lord used the time to strengthen the marriages and draw our church closer together.

The following Sunday we had a Vow Renewal service where all the couples who desired to participate could renew their wedding vows.

The end of September we had a Youth Conference and the Lord allowed over 160 young people to attend with 8 teenagers who made a profession of faith.  Praise the Lord for the men and women who are working with the teens in the church.

We have some exciting family news as well.  My wife is now expecting our fourth child, to be due in April.  Please pray that everything will go well and for her health in this pregnancy.

Thank you for your prayers and financial support!  We could not be here without your help and prayers.  We encourage you to read our blog (http://reachingall.wordpress.com) that we update often about the ministry and family.

May-June 2009

Praise the Lord that there have been many blessings since our last prayer letter.  During the last 2 months, very much has happened and God has began to bless in many ways.  As we shared in the prior letter, we began the new year with a new theme, "Increasing our Faith".   God has allowed us to take some very big steps of faith.

The first step of faith is that of starting a one-hour a day radio program from Monday - Friday.  We are excited to see how God has already blessed by allowing us see visitors at the church because of it and growth amongst our church people that have been listening and telling their friends about it.  The radio reaches our city and neighboring parts (over one million people) and allows us to get into homes of thousands of people via radio that may never visit our church.  What a blessing and exciting ministry!

The second step of faith is that we are now able to continue with the Bible Institute. Because of the move from buildings and various reasons, we had postponed classes, but praise the Lord that on March 23rd, we were able to start classes once again.  In December we will have our first graduation. We are excited to see what the Lord is going to do through this and desperately ask your prayers that God would give us the discretion and wisdom to make the right choices in the Bible Institute.

The last step of faith during this time was the Missions Conference that we just finished a couple days ago.  The first couple years in the church the idea of missions was very new to the church.  Praise the Lord that today, the church is faithfully supporting 8 different missionaries through our Faith Promise Giving program. They are looking forward to supporting a couple more missionaries before the end of the year.  The church gave a very large love offering for the missionaries who visited with us and many people stepped up and helped in the conference like never before.

We thank you for your faithful support and prayers, and we invite you to come visit us in Argentina.  It would be great to take a missions trip here.  We would love to have you.

We encourage you to visit our blog at reachingall.wordpress.com. We update it frequently and you can see many pictures and videos of the ministry here.

March 2009

It is March and we are coming to the end of summer here, as the days are starting to shorten and the nights are getting cooler.   This past month has brought many blessings.  The first blessing that we had at the end of January was a Vacation Bible School for the children of the neighborhood.  Over 100 children and teenagers were present every night and many heard the Gospel for the first time. The church people all pitched in, everyone helping in one area of the program.  We are working at inviting the parents of these children and teens.

The Lord has opened the door for us to begin the Bible Institute again.  Because of lack of space and moving onto the new property we had to suspend the classes for a while.  Now after sharing with just a few men who feel called to preach, there are several people in the church that have heard and want to also study in the Institute.  It is exciting to see their zeal to learn more for God’s Word.  It will be a sacrifice for them to study as classes will be at night so they can continue to work and provide for their families, but it will try their faith and help them to become stronger Christians.  Our desire is to see more churches started in La Plata, other parts of Argentina and in the entire world.

Our theme of the year is “Increasing our Faith”.  Every month we are focusing on a certain area of life where we need to increase our faith.  This past month was on the family and we had a Family Conference with one of the missionaries that the church supports.  We have also been praying for the Lord to increase the faith of the faithful families.  This month we have seen many families in the church who are increasing their faith in the area of faithfulness, witness, tithing and service.  One family has even opened their home for a Friday night Bible Study in their neighborhood. In the first meeting they had 18 people!  We have also been praying for new families and we have had several families visit the church this month.

We have a few prayer requests that we would like to share with you.  The Grace Baptist Church in Quilmes is looking for land or a permanent building.  Please be in prayer with us that they will find something quickly.  The pastor, Matias Aguilera, a young man who will be finishing his last year in our Bible Institute, is doing a great job with this church.   They will need around $10,000 to be able to purchase some land.   Another prayer request is for the church bus at Lighthouse Baptist that has been broken down for a couple months now.  There is a man that is willing to trade in with a bigger bus but he is asking for $3,000 extra.  We are starting a fund raising program in the church to raise this amount, but we would like to ask you to pray and maybe God would lay it on your heart to help purchase this new bus.

God has been blessing in both of the churches with souls being saved and people becoming faithful.  We thank you for your prayers and faithful support.  We ask that you continue to pray for us that God would do a great work in Argentina.

2008

October 2008

Once again, we want to share with you how great the Lord has been to us.  In September, we were filled with activities, blessings and people saved.  After preparing and praying for weeks, we had a special banquet at the Lighthouse Baptist Church.  The people invited friends and family and the goal was to invite unsaved with the goal of them hearing the Gospel.  Praise the Lord we had over 200 people and 5 made professions of faith!!  Our people were able to see the hand of the Lord after much work and prayer.

The jail ministry of the Lighthouse Baptist Church is doing well and praise the Lord, another pavilion was given to us to run.  There are now 4 pavilions that we are able to have daily prayer and devotional time that are led by inmates we have placed in charge.  Mauricio, a member of our church and great soul winner, is being used by the Lord to see many men saved.

The Grace Baptist Church and the pastor, Matias, are doing well.  Since we handed the church over in July, we have seen the Lord use Matias to take the people forward.  He has invited me back to preach and I am excited to see what God is going to do through him.  Please help us pray God will give him a wife to accompany him in the ministry.

We were recently able to pour the foundation for what will be the permanent building of the Lighthouse Baptist Church.  It is a blessing to see the excitement in our people as the church makes progress in the construction.  God has been great to us and given us sweet people who are continuing to faithfully give and love the church.  I pray God will lead us in the spiritual building of His people as well as the physical building of His church.

This past Sunday we had a Baptism Sunday and were able to baptize 15 people who have been saved and been through the discipleship program in the church.  We praise the Lord for His blessings upon us and the ministries here.  We want to invite you to come and visit sometime soon.  If you are interested in bringing a group down for a mission’s group, please email us and let us know.

June - July 2008

What an honor and privilege to be able to serve the Lord on the mission field! With much faith and prayer God has seen us through a very important time in the life of the ministry here.

After only 4 years on the field, the Lord has blessed us with being able to buy church property for the Lighthouse Baptist Church, the first church started in March 2004.  The property was purchased last December and after much prayer the church and I decided to wait a year and stay in the building we were renting so we could save up to build.  But God’s ways are not our ways….

Within a week of deciding we were going to stay in the rented building, the owner called us letting us know that we needed to leave in a month.  God was pushing us out and what we thought would be a comfortable place, He made it uncomfortable.  We began to see the people raise the standard in their giving, in their faith and in the love.  As we began to build something temporary on the property the men and women put their all into the work.  During this same time we had a Mission’s Conference scheduled.  Our faith began to waver, but the Lord had other plans.  The people promised to give way above last year’s giving and the church was able to take on 4 new missionaries, making a total of 9 missionaries that the church is supporting monthly for $30 each!

Less than 1 month after the Mission’s Conference a temporary structure (33 x 50 feet) was up and on Sunday, June 1, 2008 we held our very first service on the new land and in our own church building!  It was an unusually cold day, but the Lord brought 232 people to that Inauguration Service!   Several people made professions of faith and we had many visitors from the new area.  The people were excited and as we prayed together for the future we know that our faith will be tested once again as we push on and build more buildings for Sunday school rooms and in the future a bigger more permanent auditorium where we can build a second floor.  We are very thankful for the property that the Lord has given us and are planning on using it for the glory of God!

We thank you for your prayers for us and we encourage you to come down and visit.  There is much work to be done here.  Please keep up to date on our blog or signing up for our email newsletter by sending us an email at bush@reachingall.com.

March – April 2008

Praise the Lord we have been back now in Argentina for 6 weeks after our time of furlough.  The ministries here are growing and we have seen many blessings.  The Lord has kept the attendance up the entire time we were gone, but the most exciting blessing was to see many new people who were saved during our time away and are now becoming involved in the churches.  The two young men who were in charge of the churches while we were away did a great job and are a great blessing and help to me in the ministry.

Since arriving back, our schedule has been very full!  The end of February we had our annual Church Camp with over 80 people attending the week.  Several people made professions of faith and 3 were baptized.

On March 30th we will be having another baptism and are expecting a good number to get baptized and joined to the church.  The Lord has blessed the services lately with an attendance of over 100 on Sunday mornings and visitors in almost every service.

This past month the owner of the building we are currently renting suprised us by saying that we needed to leave his building by the end of April.  So we have 6 weeks to get out of the building we are currently in and get on the new land that was purchased.  We don't have a building yet but we are praying that we will be able to have something up temporarily.
We had looked at the option of renting another building but for the amount of space that we need to continue growing, it is going to cost over $1000 a month to rent. After much prayer, we have decided to move onto the land and little by little build as we meet in a temporary structure. The people have agreed that this is the best thing to do and they are excited to get on the property and see what the Lord is going to do. We will be laying down the foundation this coming week with the help of the men in the church.  Please be praying that the Lord will guide us and we will be able to have something up by the first of May.

We want to thank all those who gave sacrificially for the land in Argentina.  It is our desire to use it for the glory of God and to see many more people saved and growing in His will.  It is definitely a blessing to have our own property now and the people are so excited to start building

Thank you for your prayers for our family!

Jeff and Mindy Bush

2007

 December 2007

Another year has flown by and God has been wonderful and faithful through it all.  Allow me to mention just a few things that have happened recently in the ministry in Argentina.

Gaucho Day:  We have many special days for our church people as well as to reach out to others.  In November, we had Gaucho Day, where our church people dress in the traditional Argentine dress.  The Lord blessed with 130 people in the service.

Jail Ministry:  Every week some of the young men go to the jails to preach the Gospel.  The young man from the church who started this ministry works as a dentist in the jail and has led many people to the Lord.  Almost weekly there are professions of faith in the jail.  One of the greatest blessings is to see that one of the men who was saved in jail, has now been released and has been going back to the jail to minister to his former inmates.

Third Anniversary:  Both the Grace Baptist Church and Lighthouse Baptist Church will be celebrating their 3rd year anniversaries in the month of December.  We praise the Lord for what He is doing in these churches.  Jorge and Matias, the two young men that are pastoring the churches, are doing great and the Lord is using them.

Land and Construction:  As we have been on furlough these past few months, our goal has been to report back to churches and save our love offerings for the church land in Argentina.  God has been so good to us! The last payment of $9,000 is due in just 4 weeks. As we return in January we will be working alongside the Argentine church to begin building on the land.  We are praying the the Lord will use this land for His glory and as it grows, many young men will be sent out to start other churches.  We believe any offering given would be a wise investment in Heavenly riches for the future preachers and laborers that will be sent out.

Back Home in Argentina:  In just a matter of weeks, we will be leaving the states and arriving back to Argentina.  On January 29, we fly out from Dayton, Ohio and will arrive the next morning in Argentina.  We have planned our 2008 calendar year and are expecting to see many blessings from our Lord.  Please help us pray now that God will prepare the path before us and guide us as we go forward for Him.

Here to Serve,

Jeff and Mindy Bush

May 2007

The Lord has given us many blessings along with many proving times lately.  Just a few days ago on the new church property the shed was broken into and some tools were stolen.   Although we can say that many trials have occurred, the blessings have been greater!  During the month of April, our theme has been “The Heartbeat of God …. Souls”.  Praise the Lord that the church people have been used to see over 60 people make professions of faith during this month!  What a blessing to see others reached for the Gospel!

Our family will be going on furlough from the months of June to January. We are currently scheduling churches so please let us know if you would like us to pass by during this time.  You can reach us by e-mail (bush@reachingall.com) or by our vonage phone ( 770-456-5667    770-456-5667).

A great encouragement is to see some young men step up to take over ministries while my family and I will be on furlough.  We praise the Lord that we have several Sunday School teachers, several young men who can preach and 2 young ladies who have learned to play the  piano.  The church will continue to go forward because of the wonderful group of people that God has allowed us to work with here in Argentina.  I ask that you would pray for these workers during this time when we will be gone that they will remain faithful.

At the end of this month, we will need to make another payment ($20,000) on the property for the church.  Through churches and individuals the Lord has provided most of this. We are still lacking $8,000 for this payment.  We are in need of others partnering with us financially and prayerfully to purchase the land here in Argentina.  By the end of this year we will need to pay off the land.  After this month the remaining sum will be $45,000.  The Argentine church here has saved over $7,000 over the past few months.  They have sacrificed and are giving as much as they can for the land.  Will you please pray what God would have you do for the work here in Argentina? You can read more on our web page (www.reachingall.com) about the work here in Argentina.
